Loving a Person

Loving a person just the way they are, it’s no small thing
It takes some time to see things through
Sometimes things change, sometimes we’re waiting
We need grace either way

Hold onto me
And I’ll hold onto you
Let’s find out the beauty of seeing things through

There’s a lot of pain in reaching out and trying
It’s a vulnerable place to be
Love and pride can’t occupy the same spaces baby
And only one makes you free

Hold onto me
And I’ll hold onto you
Let’s find out the beauty of seeing things through

If we go looking for offense
We’re gonna find it
If we go looking for real love
We’re gonna find it

Hold onto me
And I’ll hold onto you
Let’s find out the beauty of seeing things through

Loving a person just the way they are, that’s no small thing
That’s the whole thing
Loving me just the way I am, it’s no small thing
It takes some time…

honest

boy, know your place
lies do not become us
real is more attractive
than a slick and polished mask
girl, dig down deep
and know there's more between us
there's bound to be a question
you're just dying for me to ask

if you can be honest, i can be too
if you'll take the first step
i'll follow you through
but no one wants to bleed
and no one wants to hide
no one wants to hurt alone inside

child don't close your eyes
the truth contains much beauty
and though it scars your soul
it can heal the wounds it makes
we've been deceived to think
the pain is to be dreaded
when you've got nothing left
it'll give more than it takes

if you can be honest, i can be too
if you'll take the first step
i'll follow you through
but no one wants to bleed
and no one wants to hide
no one wants to hurt alone inside

if you can't find the peace
i'll help find it for you
i don't know how
one thing that's sure
is i won't leave you now

if you can be honest, i can be too
if you'll take the first step
i'll follow you through
but no one wants to bleed
and no one wants to hide
no one wants to hurt alone inside

Overcoming

I’ve just finished reading Hannah Hurnard’s book “Hind’s Feet on High Places”. It is a fantastic allegory in the vein of John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress”. It tells of the journey of the crippled peasant Much Afraid as she follows the Chief Shepherd to the High Places of the Kingdom of Love. The following quote is from Much Afraid, after she has completed the long, hard journey to the Kingdom of Love and has been transformed by the Shepherd, and given her new name of Grace and Glory.

“Therefore I begin to think, my Lord, you purposely allow us to be brought into contact with the bad and evil things that you want changed. Perhaps that is the very reason why we are here in this world, where sin and sorrow and suffering and evil abound, so that we may let you teach us so to react to them, that out of them we can create lovely qualities to live forever. That is the only really satisfactory way of dealing with evil, not simply binding it so that it cannot work harm, but whenever possible overcoming it with good.”

I thought that was pretty basic but profound. Thoughts are always welcome. If anyone reads this.
